In Celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee: Hair Fit For a Queen
As the rest of the country prepares to celebrate the Queen Elizabeth II’s achievements during her 60 years as monarch, we here at Philip Kingsley are also celebrating her crowning glory – her wonderful head of hair. Yes, her Majesty has reigned through massive political and social changes, scientific breakthroughs and shifts in fashion. But one thing has remained the same: her tresses have always looked impeccable, no matter what.
For a woman of her age (86), or any age for that matter, Queen Elizabeth II has a glorious head of hair. When hairdressing icon Vidal Sassoon received his CBE at Buckingham Palace in 2009, he particularly remarked on its ‘beautiful colour’. And it’s true. Has there ever been an event where the Queen’s silver curls aren’t shiny and glossy?
Perhaps royalty is spared the bane of bad hair days. Although a look at Prince Philip or Prince Charles quickly confirms that this is not the case. More likely, just like us, Her Majesty the Queen takes royal pains to keep her hair looking its best. Not only does she have a hairdresser on call, but she uses the right products for her hair texture. She is even said to decline to wear a hard hat when riding so that her style stays in perfect form. When Ian Balding, her Majesty’s riding instructor, once commented on this, the Queen apparently replied ‘You don’t have to have your hair done like I do’. What she does to keep her hair looking fabulous, it’s working. Her majesty’s mane has stayed fit for a Queen throughout her reign. Forever a monarch and woman of true style and grace.
Give Your Hair The Royal Treatment
Wash your hair daily. Clean hair shines, because it easily reflects light. Wash your hair with the correct shampoo for your hair texture to get your locks as shiny as the Crown Jewels.
Hair that looks as fabulous as certain Royals, such as Kate Middleton, needs to be in good condition. Treat yourself to a weekly pre-shampoo intensive conditioning treatment. This will plump your hair shaft, making it more elastic, bouncy and less prone to breakage.
Want to put your hair in an updo to pay tribute to Her Royal Majesty this weekend? Spritz on a weatherproof styling product to keep it looking glorious throughout the day. And also to protect it from the elements.
