Lady Gaga burnt hair and scalp issues!

Superstar Lady Gaga is famed for her extravagant style and look, however as she revealed on twitter yesterday, the cost of maintaining her peroxide blonde locks is a burnt scalp.

We asked trichologists Carole Michaeledes, Natalie Carr and Jane Martin from the Philip Kingsley trichological clinic in Mayfair to give their view on the damage bleaching can cause to your hair and scalp. They stated that bleaching is one of the most damaging colouring processes that you can do to your hair and scalp, especially as most clients want to be a pale blonde. Natalie explains that this desire for a pale blonde shade is the reason why the bleach is used to lift colour to a lighter degree, and is often left on for longer than necessary to achieve this sought after look. The burning sensation that Lady Gaga describes is shockingly a chemical burn to the scalp, which Carole advises can cause permanent hair loss. It is important to note that the bleach softens the skin on the scalp, so ensure that you do not rub vigorously when washing the bleach out as this can cause further damage Jane explains.

If you are like Lady Gaga and desire peroxide blonde locks we recommend that you apply the Philip Kingsley Scalp Mask 3 days after you have your colour done, to soothe and moisturise the scalp and apply an intensive treatment such as the Elasticizer to replenish the shine and moisture to your hair.
