The Lob
No, not your attempt at a winning tennis shot. Rather, the latest hair trend. A hybrid. A classic. And for once a fashion look that suits everyone.
The lob- not quite long, not quite a bob. We’ve seen it before. In fact, we see it every day. Many women naturally choose to wear their hair this length- and not just to follow fashion. Perhaps the trend setters have been lead by the masses on this one. Why? It’s a flattering look. Think Gwyneth Paltrow and you’ve got it. Neither long, nor a bob, the ‘lob’ positions itself somewhere in between.
This mid-length look is easy to maintain and suits all hair types and face shapes. For these reasons it has been around so long, even if not on the front pages of magazines. Everyone wants their hair to be kept looking fresh and healthy- regular trims of the lob give you a defined look without having to go the whole way and chop far above the shoulders. Also, the fact it tends to all be the same length means you don’t have to worry about layers growing out. Therefore as you hair grows, you’ve got the added advantage of the fact it won’t look like your style needs some TLC.
How to look after a lob? Quite simply, is the answer. The classic lob-look is straight, as exemplified by Nicole Richie way back in ’07. Philip Kingsley Straight Hair is a heat activated gel which will assist in achieving this effect. As for other styling aids to smooth your tresses, choose yours based on your hair type. The everyday maintenance needs along with those of styling will depend upon this. Someone with thick unprocessed hair won’t need to use the same products as somebody with fine, processed hair. Finer hair textures need lighter products for their hair so as not to weigh the hair down and make it flat. Philip Kingsley Preen Cream is the perfect styling aid for finer hair types to ensure those pesky flyaways don’t disrupt from the crisp cut lines. Smooth Cream is perfect for those with medium and coarse hair to tame frizz and calm curls.
Got long hair and need to get rid of your split ends? (Since after all, cutting them is the only cure). Well, now’s the time to get a lob. Or, if you’ve simply not got round to getting your bob trimmed, now you know you’ve got one of the season’s hot hair looks.
Here at PK HQ, we’ve got actually got a Bob, not a lob. Though our Bob the office dog does enjoy the occasional lob (of a tennis ball).
