Key hair trend 2011: Low buns
The glossy magazines have flagged up this delicate and dainty fashion look in press as a hot Spring trend for 2011. It’s a simplistic look that is easy to do and relatively low maintenance.
The key feature of the revamped classic hair style is the position of the bun- pinned low. But the catwalk has seen both the tight and sleek variation, as well as the messy and more relaxed styled bun, which creates a more playful look. You can also experiment with the positioning of your parting- or have no parting- to emulate the catwalk look.
The tight ballerina style bun puts more pressure on your hair, so a top tip is to tie your hair back tight, then push the front forward just slightly to reduce the tension. This will maintain your sleek look without causing the hair damage. Pulling the hair back too tight over a long period of time can lead to traction hair loss along the front hair line and temples, or at least lead to severe breakage in these areas. Young girls are most at risk of this and, of course, ballet dancers who also tend to have a degree of traction along the parting due to the overuse of the uniform look of the tight bun.
