Kate Middleton’s Royal Wedding Hair

Wow. That’s what Kate Middleton said as she stepped onto the balcony at Buckingham Palace and saw the crowds before her celebrating her marriage to Prince William. And that’s also been the word of choice to describe her very natural looking hair and make-up.

Pre-Royal wedding, the PK team speculated as to what hair style she would opt for in our earlier post. Already famous for her healthy looking hair, it was a much anticipated style choice second only to her dress.

Kate Middleton ultimately opted for a demi chignon with the help of her stylist James Pryce- not a complete updo but half down. A chignon is perhaps the most classic bridal look, but having her hair half down provided a softer finish. She still looked regal with the 1936 halo tiara leant to her by the Queen slightly set back from her hairline and pinned into place to finish the look.

By wearing her hair in this way, she maintained the look she’s most famous for- a simplistic but elegant blowout hair style, with her lock brown locks slightly curled. Thus she achieved a natural, fresh look with the necessary amount of royal charm.

Later on in the proceedings, the newly titled Duchess of Cambridge wore her hair down, back to her signature look and how we’re used to seeing her. Clearly this is a Princess who feels comfortable with their style, and equally looked comfortable stepping up to her new role.

Whilst Kate had help re-touching her hair, most of us don’t have personal stylists on hand. If you opt to wear your hair blow-dried and down, then one great way to reduce frizz and keep light curls in check is to use styling products suitable for your hair type. The Philip Kingsley Preen Cream is a lightweight emulsion that leaves hair shiny whilst reducing static and frizz, so perfect for ensuring a styled yet natural look.

The happy couple have decided to postpone their honeymoon, but check back soon for our guide to honeymoon hair.
